If only Capt. Schettino had been watching his own readout. . . pretty chilling, if you've had any experience navigating anything large and unwieldy - he certainly had way too much speed on, and apparently wasn't maintaining adequate awareness of his position, for he was closer to shoal water and the shore itself than he insisted he was right after the incident:
